Have a few annual and perennial herbs in the garden.
Have been using a hose with a nozzle to water them, but I can tell they didn't like that at all, as the spray was too much, and too much water got on the leaves.
Now using a misting system that distributes water evenly, and only mists the leaves, as the water drips into the roots.
The plants are doing much better.
But, usually watering twice a day because it's hot.
Someone said if I let them dry out for a day or two then they'll grow even better, because they roots will grow deeper, as they search for more water.
So should I maybe skip the daily watering routine, and see what happens? I'm hesitant because my plants like the mist and it shows! Especially during this heat wave, hot!

Next to each plant, I dig a hole and partially bury a qt. size plastic container that plants come in. I bury it about 1/2 way. I have also used 2 ltr. plastic soda bottles (cut off top and bottom). I water every other day, preferably in the morning. I just go around with my hose and fill each one. stays off the plants, saves water, and doesn’t encourage weeds, etc over rest of garden.
With a hose
You put water on it.
First take your head out of your silly ass and think. Your silly soul has began to decay. Have you tickeled your silly sword today. You silly ass wipe.
Once a year
I get the feeling that there is a legitimate question in here, but it isn’t exactly well stated. Try starting with some online research, such as http://www.gertens.com/learn/howtos/alphabetical/pz/properwateringtechniquesforgardenplantsshrubstrees
Instead of a hose with a nozzle, try changing that to a watering wand, which will direct water towards the roots, and as for the rest, it seems like you are proceeding by trial and error, which is how all gardeners start.
Instead of watering the complete plant, just adjust your nozzle to a spray and go down to the roots. If the plant starts to get too dry then lightly spray the plant itself. Carolyn
Do it with the hose or put water on it
