My chameleon is sleeping during the day starting this morning and is breathing strangely from time to time. He used to go about the tank all day and eat and bask. I thought he might be dehydrated so i gave him a shower but he just enjoyed it and i didn't see him drink at all. I mist the enclosure twice a day and have a home made drip system consisting of a bottle with a hole that drips down the fake plant into some terrarium moss which needs the water as well which i've only see him drink from once. The past few days after i go to bed (i leave all the lights off in his room so he can sleep) when i wake up i found that my dad has turned the basking light on which is in the corner of the enclosure which makes it half lit up and half near complete darkness so i let it slide. but now it seems my chameleon is sleep deprived and is sleeping during the day. im wondering if that's the case or is he sick. He also has been exhaling from his mouth and it looks bad... im pretty sure he has a respiratory infection what should i do?

If you can’t find one nearby, look for one farther away. I have a local vet that will handle reptiles but I prefer to drive an hour to one that is better and has more experience. Check out these websites to find a vet that is reptile experienced. Owning a pet also includes veterinary care and it’s something that should have been considered BEFORE you got the animal.
